The Local Area

Dinwoodie Lodge Park is ideally situated, tucked away against a backdrop of rolling Scottish hills yet a short drive from the main A74 road between Carlisle and Glasgow.

Around an hour’s drive will see you in either of Scotland’s two largest cities.  Spend a day amongst the bustle of Glasgow, with it’s abundant shopping and restaurants, or enjoy exploring beautiful, historic Edinburgh with it’s winding, cobbled streets and plentiful attractions.

One of Scotland’s best kept secrets, enjoy almost unlimited quiet, beautifully and scenic countryside to explore right on your doorstep, away from the coach-loads of tourists heading further North.  This beautiful, lush green region is rich with both agriculture and forestry, with scores of red deer, red kites, red squirrels, otters and other wildlife commonly spotted across this beautiful, rural region.

The Scottish Borders

The beautiful Scottish Borders blends stunning, rolling countryside with a rich history packed with castles, stately homes, abbeys and beautiful villages and towns waiting to be explored.

Well Connected

A well connected mainline train station can be found in nearby Lockerbie with regular services North and South.  The main M74 trunk road between England and Scotland is easily accessible, with the larger local market towns of Dumfries and Carlisle both within half an hour’s drive away.  The beautiful Lake District is easily accessible within an hour’s drive.

Sporting Pursuits

There is a a choice of three excellent golf courses within 15 minutes drive, and many more a little further.

The region is well served for both coarse and fresh water fishing, and our location within the Lockerbie and Moffat hills offers almost limitless hillwalking and cycling.

Motorcyclists and classic car drivers alike love Dumfries and Galloway’s quiet, winding roads, and there are abundant options for both country and estate sports found locally.
